The Benefits of Working from Home are on Full Display—Is Your Enterprise Company Ready?

In a world of extreme uncertainty, one thing has become clear for many employers and employees alike: working from home is actually pretty great! Sure, it comes with some challenges, but for the most part, studies—and now a huge global experiment—show that working from home affords a multitude of benefits.

For employers, those benefits include happier employees, but also an expanded recruiting pool, allowing organizations to cast a wider net in search of ideal candidates. Additionally, working from home obviously significantly reduces company overhead.

At home, employees tend to be more creative, productive, and enjoy a greater sense of wellbeing. There’s also the plus of flexible hours, allowing your workforce to maximize productivity when it is most convenient. Families with special needs also enjoy increased flexibility, and with less exposure to large groups of people, sick leave decreases. And of course, there’s the bonus of being able to squeeze in a workout during your lunch hour.

However, it is worth noting that working from home does present challenges for enterprise-level entities. From an IT standpoint, security is an issue, and your IT department might be plagued with support headaches. This is where Trinitas can come in and make everyone’s life much easier—and working from home a more permanent solution for those who find it to be a valuable life solution.

Why Do IT Modernization Efforts Often Fail? Here are Three Common Reasons.

Why Do IT Modernization Efforts Often Fail? Here are Three Common Reasons.

Why Do IT Modernization Efforts Often Fail? Here are Three Common Reasons.

In a recent article for ciodive.com, CTO and ICF Kyle Tuberson examines why so many IT modernizations are unsuccessful. Many agencies and enterprises have ambitious goals for modernizing information systems and processes. Leaders are seeking agile platforms to create needed applications and improve end user experiences. CIOs understand implementing advanced technology and processes can optimize their respective business. However, these decision-makers can be poorly prepared for the roadblocks that can occur.

Decision-makers need to fully understand the inhibitors of digital transformation, how to mitigate them, and how to plan correctly. Below are three common mistakes you must avoid to be successful.

1. Not holistically assessing your organization

Unfortunately, many CIOs take a tech modernization plunge without fully understanding their holistic ecosystem. Leaders need to assess the current strengths and weaknesses, workflows, automations, and employee support before deciding on implementation.

2. Not aligning the proper strategy

Mission leaders must analyze in great detail the desired outcomes at the beginning of the undertaking and work backwards to determine the best paths. Just like taking a road trip or developing a business plan, it’s imperative to put a strategy in place before departing. You need a destination and step by step implementation to assure you successfully reach your destination. Technological modernization is no different. SaaS, equipment purchasing, automation, etc. require strong critical thinking to ensure ROI.

3. Routine maintenance

Post modernization/implementation routine maintenance of the solution is required. This means constant reviews of the workflows, vendor support, cost savings, personnel support, communication, and more. Modernization should not be thought of as a “one and done” solution.

When it comes to companies’ wireless ecosystems, creating strategy, successful workflow implementation, simplified equipment purchases, automation, asset management, and areas to save cost are extremely important.

Most businesses should consider strategic vendor alliances who understand your business and the outcomes you are trying to achieve so they can work with you to get there.

Companies experience significant savings when they have:

  • Successfully implemented technology modernization
  • New automation that works perfectly and saves employee tasks
  • Processes that align with your business goals
  • Workflows that guarantee success
  • Lower cost equipment purchases
  • improved personnel support

Whether you already have some wireless device modernization plans in place or you don’t yet have a concrete plan, Trinitas can help you create and better implement your short- and long-term strategies.

We offer solutions that address all the above and our Enterprise Anywhere product suite can manage your wireless program from anywhere in the world.

Five Ways to Make the Daily Grind More Fun

Five Ways to Make the Daily Grind More Fun

Five Ways to Make the Daily Grind More Fun

Day-to-day life carried a certain amount of redundancy before the pandemic. Now, one year into COVID life and working from home, the daily grind can feel, well, grinding. At Trinitas, we believe in the importance of infusing fun into each workday, mixing things up and treating yourself to small breaks, schedule shake-ups, a de-clutter session or window bird watching. Here are a few of our favorite ways to fun things up!

1. Set a 20-minute Rule

It’s easy to get sucked into the desk. Hours might go by before you realize you haven’t even looked up from your screen. But movement throughout the day is a great way to increase circulation and creativity. Make a point to set a timer on your phone or computer, reminding you to get up and move, dance, walk or stretch every 20 minutes. Set up the printer in a different room, so you have to get up from your desk and walk to get documents. And make sure to get outside! Once every hour, walk to the end of the driveway, grab the mail or simply sit on the front steps and breath in some fresh air.

2. Refresh Your Surroundings

Our workstations or spaces can quickly become stagnant. The same post-it note from last March is still sitting next to the keyboard. Those family pictures are sweet, but pretty outdated. Make a point to shake up your surroundings with new photos, fresh art, a new stack of inspiring books or Buddha board.

3. Start a Window Bird Watching Log

Sitting on a boring Zoom call? Just need to take a break from the project for a few minutes? Look outside. Start learning your local birds, and keep track of which ones you see, and when, throughout the year. This is a great one to turn into a family project. Make a bird bingo board and get everyone involved!

4. De-clutter!

Don’t limit the desk purge to once or twice a year. Make this a monthly habit—throw away those papers you’ve been piling in the corner. Toss the pen that ran out of ink years ago. A clean slate can do wonders for productivity and mood!

5. Watch a TED Talk

TED, which stands from technology, education and design, showcases “ideas worth spreading” in short (18-minutes or less), powerful presentations by the world’s leading minds. Add one or two to your weekly routine for a fun, inspiring break from the daily grind.

While the past year has been grueling at times, it has also taught us to embrace the little things and the importance of small doses of creativity and inspiration. As we transition back to a more normal work environment, make sure to continue your favorite daily work habits—the ones that brighten things up, lift your mood and increase your productivity.

Is It Time to Get Rid of the IT Department? Business Is Trending that Way— Here’s Why.

Is It Time to Get Rid of the IT Department? Business Is Trending that Way— Here’s Why.

Is It Time to Get Rid of the IT Department? Business Is Trending that Way— Here’s Why.

In last month’s article titled, “It’s Time to Get Rid of the IT Department,” Joe Peppard of the Wall Street Journal makes the case—and a very valid one—for dismantling IT departments and absorbing the talent into everyday business practice. Writes Peppard, “IT departments are for a bygone era and are ill-suited to the demands of a digital-first world.” He continues, “The problem isn’t with the people or the leaders. It’s with the whole idea of IT departments in the first place, which sets up IT to fail. The encouraging news is there are also a small number of pioneers who are ditching their IT departments. And their examples offer models for others looking to do the same.”

Peppard bases his argument in the fact that technology is no longer an option for businesses to succeed; it is a competitive necessity. Current structures require IT departments to forecast their needs months, and sometimes years, in advance of when they will be deployed—a stark contrast to other business units that can be nimble and reactive to changing business landscapes and consumer demands.

So, how do we get from here to a new world in which IT is integrated into every aspect of business? Peppard offers some ideas. “I have worked with several companies that are moving to get rid of their IT departments, instead making IT a part of every business unit. At these companies, the leadership team is working from a design premise to realize value from IT as opposed to one focused on managing IT. While this might seem subtle, it represents a profound shift. As one chief information officer told me, ‘In three to five years everyone will work in IT.’”

At Trinitas, we recognized this trend early on, and have been developing our Enterprise Anywhere program to meet the needs of an evolving workforce. It tackles the challenges of modern technological demands at every level, and bridges the gap between business headquarters and home offices. Here are a few of the benefits of Enterprise Anywhere:

  • Custom online platforms to manage entire wireless device ecosystems that support both in-office and work-from-home employees
  • Telecom expense management that can be accessed security from anywhere
  • Online product and ordering solutions that offer built-in spend management functionality
  • Free technical support
  • Shipping to both business and work-from-home employee addresses
  • Device buyback programs that support both in-office and work-from-home employees
  • Device kitting options that free up employee time, company money, and reduce the need for employees to venture into crowded store settings
  • Accessories from home

Concludes Peppard, “None of this will be easy. Companies have to figure out how to allocate and deploy IT resources in a new, decentralized world, when different groups’ needs can change from month to month. Organizations need IT. But they most certainly don’t need an IT department.”

Mostly, we agree with Peppard. Organizations do need IT, but not necessarily an entire IT department. However, we disagree that making this change will not be easy. Here at Trinitas, we specialize in just that—making your company’s transition to bottom-up and top-down IT integration easy and seamless

It’s Time to Appreciate the Little Things

There’s something about fall—the changing seasons, changing colors, kids going back to school—that gives us a moment to reflect and appreciate those around us. As the busy-ness of summer settles down, now is a good time to take stock of the efforts that make our lives easier, even in the smallest ways.

In the workplace, whether it’s at the home office, headquarters, or on the road, it’s easy to let your peers and collogues know how much you appreciate their efforts and their service. Make note of who those people are and what they do for you. It could be the person who sweeps the floors when everyone else has gone home for the day. Or your coworker who logged late nights to make sure your joint presentation got the results you wanted.

Enterprise Anywhere by Trinitas automates your company’s telecom system. Connect with anyone, from anywhere, and do business as usual. Your employees will appreciate the simplicity and ease-of-use while your top brass will revel in the savings, process adherence, and efficiencies.

If you’re looking for additional ways to bolster your employee appreciation budget, consider saving costs elsewhere. Trinitas Accessories Savings Calculator lets you know in just a few minutes how much you could be saving on your enterprise organization’s wireless accessories. The money you save there could be spent on bonuses, equipment upgrades for your teams, employee appreciation days, and more.

This fall, take a few minutes to consider the people in your world whom you appreciate, and how you might show it. Trinitas can help. Give us a call today to learn more!
